Genovation 905 Keypad Installation and Setup

 

Use these instructions to properly install the Genovation 905 and 905-S Numeric Keypad.

 

The keypad MUST operate via a COM PORT for the Ease-E-Club Sign In screen to operate independently. The COM PORT may be an actual hardware port or a “Virtual” COM PORT when using the USB cable connection (recommended).

 

Hardware/Software Installation:

 

Your Genovation 905 Keypad comes with a Software Installation instruction sheet. Use this or the following instructions to properly install the keypad and select a COM PORT.

 

  1. Place the Genovation CD into the CD drive of your computer and wait for the installation screen to appear. If the installation screen does not appear, right click the START button on your desktop, select Explore and go to the CD drive (usually drive D:/) and double left click the “setup” file.

 

  1. On the Setup – Genovation MiniTermPro screen, press the Next button.
  2. Select the default Destination Location and press the Next button.
  3. On the Components screen, select Advanced Installation… and press the Next button.
  4. On the Start Menu Folder screen press the Next button
  5. On the Ready to Install screen press the Install button.
  6. When installation is complete, press the Finish button and the MiniTermPro software should run.
  7. A message should say “You may plug in your MiniTerm at any time.
  8. Plug the USB cable into the Genovation 905 keypad.
  9. Plug in the Genovation 905 keypad to any available USB port now.
  10. Windows should detect the hardware and automatically load the driver.
  11. A small keypad icon should appear on the right side of the windows taskbar at the bottom of your desktop. If you do not see this icon, the USB driver for the hardware was not detected properly and you will need to contact a hardware technician to fix this.
  12. Right click this icon and select “Configure MiniTerms” and the configuration screen should appear.
  13. The first line in the “Detected” column should be Green. If it is not the driver is not installed properly and you will need to contact the Genovation help line at 949-833-3355.
  14. Press the “Set Com Port” button at the end of the first line and select Com Port 4 or any other available com port number.
  15. This completes the hardware installation.

 

Start up the Ease-E-Club software and select the Tables Menu option; then the System Control option; Select the Sign In Tab and select a COM port in the Serial Scanner/keypad section. This will be the same COM PORT you assigned in step 15 above.

WARNING: DO NOT have anything selected in the “Keypad Type” drop down list. THIS MUST BE LEFT BLANK.

 

To test the operation, start up the Ease-E-Club software and select the “Sign In” option. When the Sign In screen appears, enter a client number on the keypad and press the Enter key on the keypad. If the code is not set up the system will display an “Invalid client” alert.

 

If your Genovation Keypad has a built in scanner (located at the front on the keypad) it will scan bar codes as well as act as a numeric keypad. The keytag may need to be held several inches from the front of the keypad.

 

NOTE: The slot reader on the right side will NOT scan bar codes.
